MailSprout vs. GoDaddy Email: which is right for your domain?

GoDaddy Email Essentials is the cheap add-on most people accept at checkout when they buy a domain. It works. The question is whether the math still works at renewal, and whether you need email on more than one domain.

Who should pick what

Pick GoDaddy Email if:

  • You have one domain and one or two people using email on it.
  • You're already deep in the GoDaddy ecosystem and want one bill.
  • The $1.99 intro price covers what you need and you're OK with it going up at renewal.
  • You don't plan to add more domains.

Pick MailSprout if:

  • You have multiple domains (GoDaddy bills email per domain).
  • You want a price that doesn't jump at renewal.
  • You want one flat price covering unlimited accounts on every domain you own.
  • You want a price that stays the same every month, even at renewal.

What it costs at your size

GoDaddy charges per user and per domain. Adjust both to see how the math adds up.

GoDaddy Email Essentials

$15.92/mo

$191.04/yr

8 users × 1 domain × $1.99/mo

Intro pricing only. GoDaddy email plans typically renew at a higher rate. Verify your renewal price in your GoDaddy account.

MailSprout Starter

$15/mo flat

$180/yr

Unlimited accounts on every domain you own.

At that size, MailSprout costs $0.92 less per month. That's $11.04 back per year.

Common questions

Why is GoDaddy so much cheaper at first glance?+
Intro pricing. GoDaddy advertises $1.99 per user per month, which is the new-customer rate for the first term. Renewal pricing is typically higher (check your account for the renewal quote). MailSprout is one rate, every month, with no intro/renewal split.
Can I keep my domain at GoDaddy and use MailSprout for email?+
Yes. GoDaddy is your registrar (where your domain is parked); MailSprout is your email host (where mail is delivered). They're separate. You update a few DNS settings in your GoDaddy account to point email to MailSprout, and the domain itself stays exactly where it is. We have a step-by-step guide for the GoDaddy DNS panel at /help/registrars/godaddy.
What about migrating my existing GoDaddy mail?+
GoDaddy Email works over standard IMAP, so the same migration flow applies. Follow the migration guide, or email support@mailsprout.io and we'll walk you through it. As long as you copy your mail before changing your settings, your full history comes across.
Does GoDaddy share mail data?+
Read GoDaddy's privacy policy for the current picture. MailSprout doesn't scan your mail, train ML on it, sell data, or run ads. We host email, we get paid for hosting email, that's the whole business model. Our privacy policy is at /privacy.
What if I cancel my GoDaddy email but keep the domain?+
Totally fine. Cancel the GoDaddy Email subscription, your domain stays in your GoDaddy account, and MailSprout takes over delivery once the DNS settings point here. We have a step-by-step guide for switching over.

One subscription. Every employee, every domain.
